The 2025 SBE Raffle Day, Cake Stall, and BBQ at Downey Park on Saturday 26 July was a cracking success! It was a fun-filled Club Day that truly showcased the incredible spirit and community we’re so proud of at SBE Hockey. Adding to the fun and excitement this year was the BBQ that we were encourage to hold, due to BWHA's canteen being out of use this year (due to the floods). We were able to sell 184 beaut bacon and egg burgers and 190 saucy sizzling sausages.
The event was a real team effort, with many of our members contributing in a range of ways—securing or donating amazing raffle prizes, selling tickets in the lead-up, walking the Downey Park fields alongside our Eagles Mascot to drum up support, organising BBQ supplies, delivering supplies and equipment on the day, baking for the cake stall, and volunteering their time to help run the Cake Stall and BBQ. A huge amount of work went into planning, promoting, and delivering the day, including setting up the online ticket platform and running a strong social media campaign.
A special shout-out goes to Danica Martin for her outstanding graphic design and social media expertise, which gave our campaign a professional and eye-catching edge.
We’re incredibly grateful to the generous businesses and Club members who donated prizes—thanks to their support, we were able to offer 15 fantastic raffle prizes. Our sincere thanks also to BWHA for the opportunity to host this important fundraising event, and to the many BWHA members, friends, and visitors (including the netballers) who supported us on the day by buying raffle tickets and treats from the cake stall.
These fundraising efforts are vital in helping us keep the club strong and sustainable, and your support truly makes a difference—thank you!
