The 2026 SBE Club Day including Raffle, Cake Stall, and BBQ at Downey Park on Saturday 1 August was a sizzling success! It was a fun-filled Club Day that truly showcased the incredible spirit and community we’re so proud of at SBE Hockey. Adding to the offerings this year was the BBQ that we were again able to hold for the second year running. Thanks to BWHA's initiative, this bolstered our fundraising efforts for the day. We sold 120 tasty bacon and egg burgers and 90 sizzling sausage sangas.
As usual, the event was a true team effort, with many of our members and their families contributing in a range of ways—securing or donating amazing raffle prizes, selling tickets in the lead-up, walking the Downey Park fields alongside our Eagles Mascot to drum up support, organising BBQ supplies, delivering supplies and equipment on the day, baking for the cake stall, volunteering their time to help set up and run the Cake Stall and most importantly our BBQ chefs - they delivered exceptionally scrumptious burgers and sangas. A huge amount of work went into planning, promoting, and delivering the day, including setting up the online ticket platform and running a strong social media campaign.
Our Club day wouldn't be the same without an appearance by our Eagles Mascot - thanks to Izzy and Lilly for donning the suit this year 🖤🤍 🩷
A special shout-out goes to Danica for her outstanding graphic design and social media expertise, which gave our campaign a professional and eye-catching edge.
We’re incredibly grateful to the generous businesses and Club members who donated prizes—thanks to their support, we were able to offer 18 fantastic raffle prizes. Our sincere thanks also to BWHA for the opportunity to host this important fundraising event, and to the many BWHA members, friends, and visitors (including the netballers) who supported us on the day by buying hot food, raffle tickets, and treats from the cake stall.
These fundraising efforts are vital in helping us keep the club strong and sustainable, and your support truly makes a difference—thank you!
